The Buddhist fisherman

Is it possible to be a Buddhist to be a fisherman. Does that mean catch and release only. But what about the pain inflicted by the hook. Yet even so what if the fisherman is not a vegetarian. Is it not possible to fish in some rhythmic sync with nature where one does not over harvest but participates in the cycles of life and death.

Not sure, but I plan on going fishing this Sunday. Well even more strongly, my church no longer meets on Sunday. The visiting priest died. Because of the lack of priest, the only Mass is now on Saturday evening (bi-lingual Spanish / English) so now I have my Sundays free.

Finding the Buddha on Sunday at the lake.

We will see.

Shouldn't your catch and release hooks be soaked in Novacaine, so the little fishies don't go ouch? I mean inflicting pain on fish isn't exactly buddhist, even if you let them go so you can do it again. :-)

At least give them a mouthful of Jack Daniels before you release them.
